Montessori at Home

What Does a Montessori Home Look Like?
-
Children have space to move freely and be independently with minimal adult interference
-
Children respect others and their environment (adults do too!)
-
Children are motivated intrinsically rather than by rewards and punishments
-
Play materials are limited, displayed in order at the child's level, and cared for by the child
-
Children participate in the care of the home with age appropriate and managable tasks
-
Discipline is administered gently but firmly focusing on natural and logical consequences
-
Children are provided ample opportunities for movement and physical activity
-
Children are encouraged to experience and engage with nature frequently
-
It is not a replication of your child's Montessori classroom, but a space of comfort and community
